PHILOSOPHY
Your doctor is in
Dr. Michael Oliver is heading up the newly opened Butler Medical Associates office in Sarver. A Pittsburgh native and graduate of Allegheny College and Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Oliver feels right at home in Butler County. In fact, his wife, who he met when working at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh, is a native of Sarver and a graduate of Freeport High School.
"I wanted to get out of the city and raise my daughter in a safe, community atmosphere," Dr. Oliver said of his decision to join Butler Medical Associates last year.
Dr. Oliver also says that living in the community in which his patients reside provides special opportunities to get to know his patients better, as well as the Sarver community at-large.

Staying Healthy
Dr. Oliver champions the preventative and holistic approach to practicing medicine. "The best kind of health care," says Dr. Oliver, "is not curing someone when they’re sick, but helping to keep them well."
Dr. Oliver also knows the importance of building rapport with his patients. "The best kind of patient is the well informed patient," says Dr. Oliver. "Keeping patients active and involved in their own health is key. Giving them options in their own care is of great importance."
Dr. Oliver’s concern with preventative and patient involved medicine is easily seen in his particular two-fold interest in health care – helping patients win the battle with obesity and also helping people to quit smoking. "These are two big problems in this area of the country," explains Dr. Oliver. "I want to help people effect positive changes in their lifestyles."
